Being sick while you are pregnant

This goes out to everyone. Does anyone have a good idea on how to take care of a nasty cold while you are pregnant? I'm sure there are some herbal somethings or another. Or just some weird thing that works that I don't know about. I'm sick and I'm tired of being sick. I have the Vicks tissues and I'm drinking lots of water and taking my vitamins. What am I missing?

HELP!

If you can take a hot bath in Epsom salts. It supposed to draw out the infection. I did it last night and I feel so much better. I hope you feel better too:)

If you put some vicks on your feet and then put socks on it should clear right up.:)

I know there is some specific cold medecines you can take while pregnant, just call your OB they should be able to tell you which ones.

Are you into herbal tea? (Some people are, some people aren't). That helps me feel better when I have sore throat or a stuffed head.

I LOVE the vicks on the feet thing. But, if you have arthritis, it may really hurt in your feet the next day. Just a warning. I really hope you don't have arthritis, but I do and just discovered my life long vicks secret is no more and I am heart broken! The eucaluptus in it draws out the infection and my poor little feet couldn't take it. But, if you don't have sore feet, GIRL, it's amazing!!!!!
Also, I live on peach herb tea when I am sick.
A completely harmless help, as far as medications go, is guaifenesin - it's the active ingredient in Musinex (not musinsex DM. . just musinex). It is perfectly safe during pregnancy and my doctor loves it. Just clears congestion, helps with cough. That, coupled with Tylenol, really makes a difference.
Good luck with that! See you in a few weeks. LOve!!

sniffing salt water in your nose helps alleviate some of the pressure and bacteria cannot live in salt water. Another tip from my mother is to boil water on the stove with Vicks in and breathe it up into your sinuses. Love, Mom

Well, seeing Marsha comment reminded of me another grandma Horne story - I remember one time we were staying there and I had a sore throat and she swore that putting tobasco? Lisa, what was it? Something really hot and miserable in my drink would help. I about fell over if was so disgusting. It's one of my favorite memories from my college days. We laughed for hours. Lisa just kept watching to see my reaction. .. EVIL FRIEND! :) I don't reccomend it, though. haahaha. . .really, it was hysterical.

Em - You are so blessed to have been treated by the mighty Grandma Barb. She had every remedy. We miss her being able to remember them all now or I would have called her first!! I just remember watching her morning regiment and I couldn't believe what she would ingest. Pretty amazing!!

I think I remember - it was cayenne! And, YES, I am so blessed to have been nurtured by Grandma Barb. . .she even let me sleep in the blue room. Sweet, cherished memories.

I hear blood-letting can be quite effective.

Blood letting? Was that a Weidner Home Evening specialty? Yeesh!!! Deb Bowman Katz Leighton here...how long will my head stone be with all those names? Anyhoo, have you tried a Neti pot? They are supposed to be fantastic! I have a deviated septum or I would go for it. If I tried it with my oddly routed septum, I would projectile "leak" water through my ears and water the plants in my bedroom without leaving my bathroom. Nice image ain't it? You're welcome. gotta go, earthquake.bye
